Pepper Festival...better late than never

I went to the Pepper Festival last weekend in Bowers, PA and finally got the pictures off my phone so now I can share. The event is a family favorite, we've been going for four or five years now.

Crowded at the Pepper Festival
We always end up buying tons of hot sauces and pepper relishes or BBQ sauces. But it's always a fun day of sampling, sweating and hot flashes, LOL.

Here's a few stands we stopped at:

Also, a new thing that a few of the company's were doing was handing out stickers if you tried their spiciest sauces.

Reg and me after we tried "Stupid Hot"

We also hit the open field to pick some peppers and veggies.

My mom even found herself a couple pumpkins to take home.

After the Pepper Festival we stopped at Vynecrest Vineyards & Winery to sample (and buy of course) some wine.

Luke Bryan and friends rock Allentown Fair

I usually try to get to one show at the Allentown Fair and this year it happened to be the Luke Bryan show. My cousin is the HUGEST fan, so I took her. We got pretty close...I got general admission floor tickets and we tried to get as close to the stage as we could.

My cousin and me at the show!

Florida Georgia Line opened the show, followed by Thompson Square. Both duos were fantastic live and set the mood for headliner Luke Bryan.

My cousin and I saw Luke Bryan last year when he opened for Jason Aldean at the fair and I thought last year's show was awesome, but he was even better than a year ago. There's a reason why he's the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year.

Check out some video highlights: (Luke Bryan: Dirt Road Diaries Tour, August 31, 2013)

Lehigh Valley Air Show!

Thanks to my mom, my bro and I got VIP tickets to the LV Air Show. It was pretty sweet...we had reserved parking and access to the VIP tents, which meant free food and drinks andddd front row seats to the air show.

I took a bunch of video and compiled into a nice little package...check it out.
Note: Imagine the video with "Danger Zone" audio...YouTube muted it because of some dumb copyright laws or something

Opening Weekend at La Salle

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since my first days at La Salle as a freshman. What is even more crazy is that I've been working at La Salle now for four years. It's pretty great getting to work and have a connection like no other to that place. I met some of my best friends while having the time of my life and got to do so many great things during those fantastic four years.

What's even more crazy, is that I've been out of high school 10 years. Things certainly have changed...except for the fact that I still fall asleep at night looking at the same glow-in-the-dark star spotted ceiling that I looked at when I was eight. So, things didn't go the way I thought they would...if you asked me 10 years ago where I'd be today or what I would be doing, it wouldn't be how life is today.

I imagined I'd be married, moved out and settled into a career involved with the music industry by 28 years old. But I'm back at my college alma mater, working a job that I like with people I like...doesn't sound so bad. One of the coolest things in my life happened this year, getting to travel with the La Salle men's basketball team on its trip to the Sweet Sixteen. Nothing is more motivating or gives you a sense of pride than seeing all the hard work pay off with a successful basketball season. It was definitely a highlight of not only my career at La Salle but definitely one of those life experiences that I'll always have. I will always be able to say "I was there when we beat three nationally ranked teams in the NCAA Tournament."

So even though things didn't necessary go as planned in life, there's no other team I would rather cheer for and no other college I would rather be working at.

Last night we welcomed the newest class to La Salle and I got to meet a chunk of them at the annual Stadium Jam event for freshman. We shared info on the student fan section, the Explorer Entourage, and tried to get some students to sign up for spirit team try-outs.

Luke Bryan Keeps The Momentum With "Crash My Party"

It sure has been a good year for Luke Bryan. He's coming off rave reviews for Spring Break...Here For The Party and is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, so it's no wonder there was so much pressure in creating a hit-making fourth album. And if you ask me, Crash My Party has more hits than misses.

If you're expecting an album full of weepy ballads or up-tempo countrified dance hits, you won't get that. If you want an album about drinking beer on the tailgate, southern summer nights or sweet tunes that spark a sense of nostalgia...then this album is for you. There isn't any real direction or poignant theme, other than getting the sense of partying with country music's good boy. Kenny Chesney has the beach, Zac Brown Band has the southern Mumford & Sons vibe, Taylor has the teenage angst angle...I digress...and Luke has the guy-next-door, let's have a fun time while I wear tight jeans and shake my tushy for all the ladies. At least that is how I view Luke's musical style.

He's got a solid amount of drinking songs on the album, heck two of them have beer in the title. "That's My Kind Of Night," the lead-off single, is my least favorite song...too much pop and not enough twang, although I'm sure the radio will love it. Same goes for "Play It Again." This is sure to be a single...it almost reminds me of Taylor Swift's "Our Song." Possibly the biggest hit from the album has already been on the radio most of the summer, "Crash My Party" is this album's meal ticket for sure.

Luke is out on tour with Florida Georgia Line and Thompson Square...they hit the Allentown Fair at the end of the month. I'll be at the show, so expect a posting about that show.

Eagles Pre-Season '13

Today is my first post on my revamped blog. Since the content will be about anything now, I decided to begin with what I got to do last night.

My brother invited me to go to the Eagles pre-season game last night against the Carolina Panthers.

Check out our seats! Section 225
After getting to go to training camp this past weekend, it was great getting to see the team put all the drills and practice plays in action in a real game, even if the outcome doesn't really matter...by the way, the Eagles did come out on top 14-9!

Even though Vick didn't start at QB, it was great getting to see Foles have a great game...the battle for QB still rages on. I'm also a huge Matt Barkley fan, so getting to see him have some throws was awesome. I ran into Barkley out in LA when La Salle was in the NCAA Basketball Tournament and we were playing in the Sweet Sixteen...he was staying at our hotel. Who would have guess that four months later he would be an Eagle. My favorite player, Brent Celek, got a lot of playing time too... I got a Celek jersey for Christmas so this was my first game that I got to show my Celek pride!

We got to the Linc early enough to tailgate a little. We had a few beers and ate Wawa hoagies.

Check out that beautiful sky and skyline!

Plus, it's not a good time until you get Chickie's & Pete's crab fries!

FYI ... That would be my bro's huge hand

I still haven't gotten to Xfinity Live after a game yet...next time!
